Addicting Games as a Real Danger. Part 1.

Nowadays up to 90 percent of youngsters around the world enjoy playing computer games and, regarding to research reports data, about 15 percent of teenagers may be addicted. Excessive playing of video games reveals the symptoms of drug or other psychological addictions. A compulsive playing games interferes with daily life.

Players become concerned entirely on game avoiding family and friends or other contacts. They may play during whole days neglecting even food and a shower as a waste of time. As a result they suffer sleep deprivation. Thus, addicting games cause troubles in relationships, mood, personality, work.

Researchers found that brain generates rewarding feelings while playing of addicting games, so such games do have certain addictive effects. Some doctors cite that computer games for children can be as addictive as drugs. An American leading council of the nation’s largest doctors’ group offered to officially classify compulsive playing addicting games as a psychiatric disorder in order to enhance awareness and provide sufferers with opportunity to get insurance to compensate treatment.

Psychologists analyze the inherent reward nature of video games to explain their addictive characteristics. Researchers investigated what motivates participants to go on playing video games; they consider that players long to play for more evidences than just pleasure.

While playing the participants exist in the virtual imaginary world created by video game they become self-confident and successful and gain satisfaction which could not get in the real world. Video games satisfy basic psychological needs, and users experience feelings of freedom, gratification and unity with other players.
